Following market selection, the Central Station Power team undergoes land evaluation and transmission analysis to determine the best sites for specific projects. The decision to pursue a project are made with the community, and not just the initial landowner in mind. Projects that make the most sense for the grid, often make the most sense for communities. Central Station Power works to avoid the overdevelopment of parcels not currently impacted by the electric grid and instead largely focuses on redevelopment of industrial corridors, brownfield development and use of land directly adjacent to high voltage infrastructure.
Community Benefits
Power generation and energy storage can bring tremendous local benefits from the electricity, jobs and tax side. The projects compete in low-cost resource planning, ensuring that only projects that make the most sense for individuals' electric bills move forward. The projects often provide significant property tax uplifts that can help communities balance budgets. We work with local communities to find the best paths forward for projects, ensuring key economic concerns are met in the development process.
